Gracias!

Mexico’s state of Tabasco has suffered a great natural disaster (some say, it is even worse than Katrina’s Huracan in New Orelans).

Unusually heavy rains have resulted in overflowing rivers and widespread flooding in Tabasco State in southern Mexico. Early reports indicate moren than 1.5 million people are affected by the floods; however, exact figures are difficult to ascertain as access to affected populations remains limited.

Preliminary regional reports indicate:

* 850 towns are flooded—approximately 70 percent of the state—with flood levels ranging from 2 inches to 36 feet
* An estimated 80,000 households have lost all personal property
* Nearly 30,000 people were housed in 269 shelters.
* More rain is expected in the coming days

Mexico has declared a state of emergency in all 17 municipalities of Tabasco State.

* The government of Mexico and humanitarian agencies are unable to reach many communities as a result of the flooded roadways and raging waters.
* Government of Mexico reports indicate that as many as 300,000 people are currently cut off from assistance due to the rising water.
* The Mexican government has issued flood alerts for the neighboring state of Chiapas and has begun evacuating communities in high risk areas.
* Priority needs include food, water, health care and basic relief items, such as hygiene materials and clean up supplies.

To help from ABROAD (thanks Margarita Almada for the info.)

Through Internet:

American Redcross

UNICEF USA

Catholic Relief Services

Fundación Altius:

Economic Donations:

Bank: BANAMEX
Beneficiary: Fomento Social Banamex AC
SWIFT: BNMXMXMM
Cuenta Clabe (Account): 002180010000001205

From the US:
Bank: J P Morgan Chase
City: New York
SWIFT/ABA 021000021 CHASUS33
Bank Account: 400047144BMSXMXMM
Beneficary Bank: Santader Account 65501313391
CLABE: 014180655013133911

From Europe:
Bank: Santander Central Hispano Madrid
City: Madrid
SWIFT/ABA BSCHESMM
ACCOUNT: 14884 IBANES 2200495494802310148842
Beneficary Bank: Santader Account 65501313391
CLABE: 014180655013133911

Thanks in advance for helping out!J.S.
